Combat Paper Project
|
Fabric of War, curated by Nick Dubois, was the first exhibit in a series of activities that launched the United Kingdom Tour during the spring of 2009. The tour consisted of exhibits, papermaking demonstrations and workshops, presentations and street encounters, all designed to further the discussion of the culture and human impact of conflict. The initial exhibit at the Courtauld ran from May 18th through June 23rd.
The objective of the tour was to broaden the already existing model of using papermaking processes as cathartic artmaking exercises. The audience was expanded from war veterans to families of those fallen and civilians caught in the cross-fire of conflicts in and around the United Kingdom.
Combat papermakers Drew Cameron, Chris Arendt and Drew Matott were on hand for the exhibit opening and papermaking demonstrations in the museum courtyard. |
