Opening Reception W[A]RN and TRANSFORMED: Uniforms as Stories of U.S.

  • SHSMO Center for Missouri Studies 605 Elm Street Columbia, MO, 65201 United States (map)

Join us for an opening reception of a new exhibition in commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the United States as represented through stories and experiences woven within the fibers of the American military uniform. The reception will include a panel program with veterans Drew Cameron of Combat Paper, Martin Lesinksi and John Schneider of the U.S. Armed Services whose paper artworks are featured in the exhibition.

W[A]RN and TRANSFORMED: Uniforms as Stories of U.S. is a collaboration with the State Historical Society of Missouri and the Missouri Historic Costume and Textile Collection at the University of Missouri. This year's biennial exhibition, which runs March 3 through August 15, 2026, showcases military uniforms displayed alongside war-era posters, contemporary paper artworks and MU student apparel designs made with military uniforms transformed into Combat Paper. Guests are invited to write their wishes for America’s future on the exhibition’s "Wish Wall."

See this unique exhibition while it's here this spring and summer at the William Guitar Little Missouri Gallery on Art inside the Center for Missouri Studies!
